A B&B and a Vacation Rental

1. As self-catering bed and breakfast when you arrive I provide the following at no additional charge: fresh muffins, bagels, cream cheese, butter, jam, Quaker Oats Grits, Nature Valley Breakfast Bars, 100% Arabica whole bean regular and decaffeinated coffee, a selection of imported teas.

2. As a vacation rental there is a fully equipped kitchen complete with silverware, pot and pans, dishes, glassware and outdoor Char-Broil gas grill so you can go to the grocery store and have what you want, when you want it and not spend all your money in restaurants.

The housekeeper cleans between guests and will come once a week for longer stays. If you'd like arrangements can be made for the housekeeper to come more often or for special occasions.

Location:

The Galloway House is exactly 1.6 miles from the far side of the Downtown Historic District and in the center of the Victorian/Thomas Square Streetcar Historic District .

The city was first settled in 1733 on a bluff along the Savannah River and as it grew they expanded further south, today there are seven Historic Districts in Savannah. The oldest area is the Downtown District, the 2nd oldest, where I'm located, is the and was settled in the late 1700's to late 1800's. My house is 113 years old and I often walk my dogs to the Savannah River and back.

Location Map.

Parking: The city of Savannah publishes a brochure for tourists you can download and print from http://www.savannahcitymarket.com/ParkSmart.pdf but I also have copies available. At the house street parking is never an issue as there are only four houses on the block and there are two private parking spaces on the lane. Anywhere in Savannah it's not a great idea to leave things in your car overnight.
Dogs are allowed but:

No matter how much your dog may be a 'part of the family' they are still a dog. Despite how well behaved any dog is at home, being left in a strange place with stange noises and not knowing when someone will return is often so stressful it results in clawing at doors, chewing pillows, rugs, furniture, crying, whining and barking.

Consiquently all the rules below must be strictly adheared to by all guests.

1. In deference to guests with allergies, dogs are never allowed on the beds or furniture. If your pooch must cuddle on the sofa, ask and I have some old sheets.

2. There is a non-refundable Dog Cleaning Fee is $125 for the main house and $75 for the carriage house.

3. A Pet Damage Deposit in the amount of $150 per dog must be paid at time of reservation. If there is no damage a refund check wil be mailed one week after departure.

4. Cats, don't even ask, I'm allergic to them.

5. No more than two dogs are allowed in an apartment.

6. Due to restrictions on my homeowner's insurance policy the following breeds or mixes with the following breeds are not allowed.

Pit Bulls,
Alaskan Malamutes
Rottweilers
Akitas
Chow Chows
American Staffordshire Terriers
Doberman Pinschers

There is no point in calling and yelling at me about this one, I'm not going to change insurance companies and they are not going to change their policies. (One guest appeared at the door hoping I would make an exception and they spent their vacation at a Motel 6 off the interstate.)

7. No puppies (dogs 9 months or younger) because they chew things.

8. Dog owners must always pick up after their dogs; always as in night or day, rain or shine, big or small.

9. If your dog disturbs other guests you must immediately do everything necessary to quiet you dog or find other accommodations elsewhere.

There is only one dog park in Savannah but it's only a short walk from my house to 41st St. and Drayton. It's open from dawn to dusk.

You can always email me at Keith@TheGallowayHouse.com but sometimes inquiries have landed in the junk email box folder. In your email please include your dates, number of guests and where you'd like to stay.
