Honest & Unsolicited Guest Reviews

We don't buy the four & five star reviews you'll see on so many travel websites, simply because we don't have to.

In every apartment there is a book for guests to write their comments about restaurants and things they've done.

We've scanned every page (only corrected misspellings) so you can read what real travelers to Savannah have liked or disliked.

We had a wonderful time and loved our little home!  Even thought our car broke down on Valentines DAy, we still had a wonderful stay.  Thank you for all your help & concern while we got out car fixed!  We did get to see a lot of what we had planned to see.  Bonaventure cemetery is a must see, the river walk is a great place to go at night.  Kevin Barry's Irish Pub is a great place to have a drink or two(they have live music most nights).  Six pence is cute-have the bangers and mash.  Pizza Rustica was a great place to go and so close by.  The Historic District SCAD, & Mercer House were really great.  We definitely are coming back to explore more of this great city, and we would love to come back forever!

We decided to stop here from Ft. Lauderdale, FL tour home in Rehoboth Beach, DE.  We were only going to stay for night, but you have a 2 nite min, and we were glad of that.

We loved it here!  Your accommodations are wonderful and the gown is easy to figure out and the people are very helpful & friendly.

We had a great time having Gay cocktails at Blaines and Six Pence Pub around the corner for dinner (The best Shepard's Pie Ever, The Boom!) friend green tomatoes at Vic's on the Rivers walk is a must.

Thanks for having us Keith.  We will be back to explore more of Savannah.

Thanks so much for providing this great home-away-from home as we explored Savannah!

We loved having the kitchen, nice living room & fantastically comfortable bed!

Super clean and comfortable.

I'm glad you advertised on Craig's List.

Jim - thanks for the friendly introduction - (we hope Scooter is ok).  Love the garden, too.

Favorite things to do:

-take a tour to get oriented                               -we loved just walking the squares                   -Jones St. has the best houses.                        -Owens - Thomas house was amazing             -Found the River shops to be a bit too touristy, but Vic's restaurant was our best meal here.     -The Pink House, tho expensive, was super good.  Sit in the basement tavern w/fireplaces & piano player.

Good luck with the movie shoot!

A lovely time was had by all!

If it is summer time, make the trip to Tybee Island - wide beach and small town and don't forget Fort Pulaski-it was an eye opener for a Northerner.             B.S.

We had a great time!

Love the carriage house, the big house - beautiful!

We had good food everywhere we went.

Barnes, Pizza Rustica (had a bit of a wait, but great pizza), Huey's on River Street.

Fort Pulaski was great.

Bonaventure Cemetery, too.

My Mother & I take a yearly trip together.  This year we chose Savannah & had a great time!

We arrived on Friday & ate at Tubby's Tankhouse on the river - food wasn't the best, but every 1st Friday the do fireworks over the river and since we were outside on the dick the view was SPECTACULAR!

Sat. was a self-guided walking tour of Savannah.  Saw Mercer-Williams house & multiple other sites. Even though it rained, it was great fun.

We are at restaurant 17 ten 90-haunted & fun. Try the Parmesan encrusted fish.

Sunday we arrived @ at the Galloway House & did a ghost tour (full moon!)  It was a lot of fun walking around & seeing the "haunted house" to boot!

Monday at Tybee, Tuesday shopping.

Ruan Thai was great to eat!  Also had lunch at Clary's & went to Bonaventure Cem.

Beautiful home, adorable dogs & accommodating hosts!  Thank you Jim & Keith.

We had a great stay!

We had such a great time in Savannah and at the carriage house.

We loved the apartment's style and crazy renovation.

Highlights from the trip include our meal @ the Olde Pink House on Bull Street, the artsy college area, the squares when the temp hit 100 an afternoon on Tybee Island, the garden @ Pizza Rustica next door, the carriage house obviously.  The details were great - kitchen great, linens great, privacy great.  We love how hospitable and darling everything in GA has been.  Go Ravens!  Go O's !

My boyfriend & I previously lived in this area so we are very familiar with Savannah already.  His family still lives here so we come back regularly for visits.  It was his birthday this weekend so I decided to get someplace special to stay.  I just happened to come across the Galloway House online and was very lucky that they had a room available last minute.

Everything was wonderful especially the huge bed!  It's very cozy & comfortable and a great place to come back to after a busy day.

Thank you Jim and Keith!  We will be back again and maybe next time I will bring our fat pug, Kozmo!

Our first trip to Savannah and love it ! Our honeymoon was perfect from the time we arrived, Keith & Jim are GREAT! and so are their kids.

Our advice: To dos - take a tour 1st to find your way around, The Pink House is a must for a nice dinner (eat in the Tavern), Ghost Tours - enjoyed the Dorrell-weed House, the 6th Sense was more a "story teller."  Fort Pulaski was pretty cool, but might have

to chalk that up to Robert Redford filming a movie there.  Lady & Sons was very good for lunch.  The River makes for a nice walk.

With this being our first trip to Savannah, we found it to be wonderful!  Keith & Jim's hospitality was exceptional and their recommendations were on point!  The Carriage House was more than what we needed and felt like home right away.  The shopping was too much to take with too many stores and galleries to check out.  We found the Olde Pink House, the 1790, the Sic Pence Pub and Gallery Express were awesome!  Paula Dean's the Lady and Sons was a bit touristy but the food was good and we found their chicken pot pie and Key Lime Pie were the best in town!  We've hear the Pirate House was overrate and we suspect the food at Moon River Brewing Company made us a bit sick.  The beer was good, but the food was not.

If you are traveling with dogs and go to any park or square, leave them on a leash.  We had  a

What an amazing house, stay, and city!!!  Thank you for including us with history and facts and to do places.  We definitely were able to get a feel for the area.  Spending time in the garden with Charlie and Puppet made for great fun.  We will never look at a simple garden hose or sprayer the same.  The BBQ places in the area were fantastic and loved finding the family owned and operated off the beaten path places.  We can't wait to return!!

Jim & Keith, We certainly enjoyed our stay @ the Carriage house and out time in Savannah!  Our first trip here and weather was better then expected and we saw lost of houses and churches and took lots of pictures and videos.

We went to following restaurants during out stay here:

The Olde Pink House - absolutely great

xxxxx pub if you can arrive early.

(continued on next Page)

CCF25062010_00048

Food was terrific and service by Michael S. was superb.

Lunch today at Six Pence Pub (outside) was fine. didn't get too adventurous with menu.  This pub was in a movie with julia Roberts.

Dinner tonight (5/12) was at Vic's on the River.  Again, the food was terrific and our waiter, Andre, was very attentive and personable.

We took a tour of the Mercer-Williams house-would highly recommend it if you've seen the movie, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil."

The Cathedral of St. John the baptist is well worth a self-guided tour.

We drove to the historic district and then walked around....really too far to walk from here and the walk (a lot!) around the various squares in the historic area.

Overall a very enjoyable time and hope to return sometime soon.

Dear Jim & Keith

We are so glad we chose to stay at the Galloway House for our week here in Savannah!  Your home is just beautiful.  Thank you for all the great tips on how to spend out time here.  Having a kitchen was nice.  When we weren't out at the restaurants:  Kevin Barry's Irish Pub -waitress was as sweet as can be/ River Street

Parker's Store - yes-a gas station had the BEST mac & cheese and quiche.  try it - you'll see.

Lady & Sons -ok- ate way too much.  should have gone to Mrs. Wilkes instead - maybe next gear.

Leopold's -great shrimp salad-neat place- good shakes and ice cream.

AJ's Dockside - Tybee Beach - ok

Crab Shack - neat place (a little hokey) but it was good

Bernie's at Tybee Beach - PoBoy was fantastic! (There is a Bernie's on River St. too)

A long walk down Bull Street, all the squares, Monterey, Madison, Chippewa, Wright, and Johnson.  Images of things long past.

At the Savannah River, dolphins play at sunset, Mrs. Florence Martus waving them on.  Those River Street Sweets.  Bookstores, Mint Juleps, the afternoon thunderstorms of June and a mirror in a garden.  Tybee Island and a "Shugga shack."

A walk though Bonaventure Cemetery with all the "Haints." a Rebel and a Yank.

Dinner atop the Bohemian, the sun setting spectacularly on another memorable Savannah Day, just out of reach and beyond a magnificent bridge. An unfulfilled desire to meet Miss Ruby herself.

When the car turns north and Savannah fades in the distance tomorrow, a strong feeling that says unlike most, "Savannah is our future rather than our past."   Like a familiar song says, "other arms reach out to me. Other eyes smile tenderly.  Still in peaceful dreams I see the road leads back to you."

My son & I came down to Savannah to visit Tybee Island.  It was truly a magical place, not only the beaches, but Savannah itself.

We walked into town everyday...we didn't visit any historical sights because my son was not interested.

Places that were great...

Back in the day Bakery- great cupcakes, funky place located on Bull St. about 5 min walk.

Paula Dean's restaurant wasn't very good but the pecan pie was worth the 1 1/2 wait.  That is 1/2 wait in the a.m to get reservations for the pm.

Momentum Pilates was also outstanding...also a 5 mins walk.

Keith

It was everything & more!  The beautiful home, the most gracious host, those awesome dogs and rich history.  We enjoyed ourselves and hope to make it a tradition for our anniversaries in the future.

It was nice to be so close to everything and yet just far enough not to be in the hussle and bussle of the downtown area.

We loved J. Christopher's and the Chart House and We Willies was fun on the last night!

Gob Bless you, Take Care and Many  Thanks!

Until we meet again,

Valentine's Day 2008 (3 days)

Keith

Everyone else has already said it so well, we needn't add more.  The house is great.  You are doing everything right.  We especially like that there aren't tons of rules and notes around, being treated like responsible adults, imagine that!

So far, Vic's for lunch & Bella's for dinner were excellent.  The tour trolley is a good way to get oriented and you can jump on & off.  Also there is a $8.00 parking pass that allows parking in the garages or at meters - a good deal.

At one mile around, Joe was able to get in a 6 mile run at Forsyth Park.

Today Owens-Thomas house, lunch @ Wilkes (good southern-worth the wait), tea @ 3, Bonaventure cemetery, Colonial Park cemetery, lots of walking, pizza to go from Vinnie Van Go Gos.

Wonderful visit, we love Savannah,

Marilyn & Joe                                                              Indianapolis, IN

P.S.  Great to have decaf coffee!!

February 16-18, 2008

Keith,

We are so glad we found y our place.  We've been to Savannah several times and this house made our stay this time the best.  So much better than having only one room in a hotel!

We thoroughly enjoyed eating in the courtyard of City Market, breakfast at Huey's on River Street and lunch at "Boar's Head."

The parking lot on Drayton (behind Holiday Inn Express) at $1.00 made it easy to come and go as we pleased.

Thanks you for making these wonderful accommodations available.  You can be sure we will return.

Keith, Jim and "The Boys"!!

We have wonderful memories of Savannah.

Sitting on the porch re-living out days adventures and planning the next.

Class 101 in wine de-corking was extremely apperciated.

Your on-going restoration of the house truly makes it a home away from homw.

Pictures do not do the "Boys" justice.  They each have their own personalities and were truly a joy to have met.  Waht an added bonus.

Rest assured the Galloway House will come highly recommended by us.

Dear Keith

What a GEM you have created here.  The perfect place to stay to experience that famous "Southern hospitality."  You have provided everything that could possibly define the concept.

Your home that you have created here is so beautiful and gracious.  And yo have been so charming and "patient"  Every touch has been appreciated.

If you ever get to Northern California get in touch.  We sure could find a comfy king-sized bed for your "Babies" to lounge on!

Thank you, so much, for everything!

Where to begin...The house , the city, the history, THE FOOD and especially the boys!!

For us moms with four legged children they made staying in this beautiful house even more enjoyable. (If that's possible)

fter almost 10 months of planning, out trip to Savannah will never be forgotten.

For three girls t leave Minnesota at 32 degrees and arrive to find 85 degrees was pure bliss.  Enjoyed the porch and the garden every morning and every night.  You have given us inspiration for our gardens at home (If they ever thaw)

Thank you for allowing your home to become our home for what now seems to have been a very fast week.

Mary, Laurie and Elizabeth

Dear Keith & Jim

The house was in a word, "wonderful."  Its charm and love is the perfect "home away from home" to have while visiting this step back in time.  Whether it was sitting on the porch, relaxing on the catch, or recharging the bones in the bed (don;t forget reading in the sun room), the Galloway House is a place we will always recommend.  My wife and I hope to get away for a 5th wedding anniversary and her 40th birthday and we found the perfect spot.  To spend it with a true friend like Kevin, in a place like this has been the perfect touch.

TO all who come open you hear and let the house, the dogs, Keith and Jim love on you for a while!

Love,

Eric & Missie D.                                                           Kevin F.
